Hijama for women

Welliyah connects you with verified female hijama practitioners for women-only cupping sessions — at a clinic or in your own home. Your modesty preferences are agreed before your practitioner arrives, so nothing needs explaining on the day.

Why women choose hijama

Hijama is a traditional wet-cupping practice used for centuries and loved in the Sunnah. Here is what women most often come to Welliyah practitioners for. Hijama supports wellbeing alongside — never instead of — medical care.

Tension and heaviness

Women most often book hijama for tight shoulders, upper-back tension, tension headaches and that heavy, drained feeling that lingers after a hard season.

Energy and recovery

Practitioners commonly pair hijama with rest, hydration and gentle movement to support circulation, recovery after training and the return of steady energy.

Cycle and postnatal care

Points can be adapted around your cycle or postnatal stage, with lighter sessions and shorter timings when your body needs a softer approach.

Sunnah-conscious wellness

Hijama is a practice with deep roots in the Sunnah. Welliyah practitioners honour that context while working to modern hygiene and single-use standards.

Hijama for women — common questions

What is hijama and how does it work?

Hijama, also called wet cupping, uses gentle suction on specific points of the body followed by very small superficial incisions to draw a small amount of stagnant blood. It is a traditional practice loved in the Sunnah and used today alongside modern wellness routines for tension, heaviness and general wellbeing.

Is hijama suitable for women?

Yes. Many women choose hijama for back and shoulder tension, headaches, low energy, cycle-related discomfort and postnatal recovery. On Welliyah every hijama practitioner is a woman, so you are never treated by a male practitioner.

How is modesty protected during a hijama session?

Only the area being treated is uncovered, and it is draped again as soon as that section is finished. Before your session you complete the Wellness & Modesty Consent Form, where you set preferences such as hair covering, female-only space, no photography, no music, prayer breaks and a pet-free environment. Your practitioner sees your preferences before she arrives.

Can I have hijama at home?

Many Welliyah practitioners offer home visits as well as clinic or studio sessions, so you can choose whichever feels most private and comfortable for you.

Does hijama hurt?

Most women describe the suction as a firm pulling sensation and the small incisions as a brief scratch. Practitioners work slowly, check in with you throughout, and stop whenever you ask.

When should I avoid hijama?

Speak with your doctor first if you are pregnant, anaemic, on blood-thinning medication, have a bleeding disorder, are recovering from surgery or are managing a chronic condition. Hijama complements medical care — it does not replace it.

How often should women have hijama?

Many women book seasonally — roughly every two to three months — while others come for a specific concern and then space sessions out. Your practitioner will suggest a rhythm that suits your body, energy and cycle.
